8 Years of Bliss

Happy Anniversary Nick! I love you very much.

Dress Hunt

I'm kind of in a bind. I have two formal dresses for weddings that no longer zip over my bust, RATS!!!! @$*@%&*#%^*#W&%W*#&#% I

Would you ever consider renting a dress? I really love this Lela Rose, but alas, to purchase would cost me over a grand. Fortunately, Rent the Runway is a website to rent designer duds for a fraction of the cost. This dress, $150! It's like Cinderella to me though, you get to be the princess for the night and then in the morning POOF, gone. I don't think I'd do it. Do need dress ideas though.

Who Says You Can't Go Home??

I've been a bad, bad blogger lately...so sorry!

Via an awesome day dream I came up with an insane idea to buy my childhood home. See, my mom lives there alone, while my brother is away at school and my dad lives in an apartment in the same town. Because of this situation, and because my dad still pays for the house and is essentially the repair man, he wants to sell it. I have so many intense emotions even thinking about my childhood home being no more. It actually pains my heart, literally. The memories and years of love in that house are overwhelming. SO I thought me and Nick could possibly buy it?? Crazy, I know! But it's an amazing house. I am a city girl at heart, but I'm also a realist. I will never be able to own an apartment in the city, especially with kids. So many emotions!

I'll get to the good part-- decorating! Although my mom has fantastic taste, it’s not necessarily my taste. I've come up with a couple ideas, starting with the living room, which has a perfectly good maroon rug. Based off that, I've picked out several decor and furniture pieces. Enjoy!

Coral Chair from Pier 1

Floor Lamp from Pier 1

Bronze Chandelier from Z Gallerie

Table Lamp From Pier 1

Throw Pillows from (I think Neiman Marcus)

Throw Pillow (I think from Pier 1)

Faux Fur Throw Pillow from (I think IKEA)
Coffee Table from Bed, Bath & Beyond

Glass Tile to retile the fireplace, from Home Depot

Faux Fur Sheepskin Rug from IKEA

While My Guitar Gently Weeps

Hola! Greetings :) Nick recently put his insomnia to good (creative) use and rearranged our living room! He basically switched the positions of the couch and the TV, and I must say it looks cool and feels refreshing. Being the avid music fans we are, I purchased this SICK guitar canvas from Home Goods yesterday to fill a little void left by the swap. I simply love it.

Next up... how about we get some panels for the window?  I suggest these sheer green ones from Bed, Bath & Beyond.  Even though we already have a lot of green, I feel this would really make our pillows and accents pop.  Also, we'd like more privacy (day care children can peer into our window).  So, sheer seems to be the way to go.  Another choice from Ikea, these white panels with subtle black patterns.

What do you think?

Room With A City View

Hola! Although I feel like I've been living on planes (how dramatic of me) I really enjoyed my trip this week to Arizona. I've never been, so it was amazing to see what "real" mountains look like, relish the ninety degree weather and catch up with some great friends. Oh, and work :)

Aside from that, my newest obsession is creating my future house with each room assigned a city theme. I’ve been obsessed with the French influenced décor of New Orleans, now I fancy the easy breezy way of the Arizonians...so why not make a full house inspired by cities! I think it would be really neat and a fantastic expression of who I am and allow me to display my various tastes and styles.  This Scottsdale room could easily work as a welcoming guest room or possible daughters bedroom, ahem little miss Stella P.               ;-)

The colors are pinks, blues, oranges and greens.  Furniture contrasts with a dark brown and LOTS of grommets.  Loved the grommets at the four seasons where we stayed.  Here are some pics of our lovely room.

Striped headboard with matching pillows.  The big pink pillows had a tribal pattern on and really toned down the insanity of the headboard, which was also bordered with grommets.

This accent chair was fabulous!  It almost had a tie-dye feel to it and reflected the bright pinks and oranges in the bed.

Pillows & rug from ABC Carpet...thought they would fit nicely with the AZ scheme.

Can't wait to put this in action one day.  I was thinking the bathroom could be Las Vegas... could get pretty raunchy ;-)
